Armed Forces Benefit Association’s (AFBA) Better Alternative Plan.

AFBA offers the Better Alternative survivor benefit funded by life insurance that is underwritten by 5Star Life Insurance Company. Better Alternative is available in all states except New York. All coverage issued to NY residents is underwritten by New York Life Insurance Company.

MIT was established in 1991 to pool the resources of several National Guard Associations to provide quality group life insurance for National Guard members and their families. The Participating National Guard Associations listed on the Home Page are participating associations in the Militia Insurance Trust.

This is the original SSLI policy, famous for the design of the family coverage and fast payment of most claims.

Uniformed Services Benefit Association
Uniformed Services Benefit Association’s (USBA) 10 Year Level and Lean 15 Term Life Plans.

These plans are underwritten by New York Life Insurance Company on policy form GMR.
USBA is a nonprofit organization providing a variety of group life insurance plans and other financial services. USBA programs are specifically designed to meet the special needs of Active Duty Military, Military Retirees, Honorably Discharged Veterans, Active Duty Reservists, National Guard Personnel, Federal Employees, and their families.
